LIMITED AMMUNITION SCENARIOS

As the name would suggest, these games require that you take off your hopper and play "old school" - with 10 round tubes or pistols w/o hoppers.  No 300-ball hoppers.  No 200-ball hoppers.  No "guppy" 45-ball hoppers.  JUST 10-round tubes or whatever "natural" capacity your pistol has [the max. capacity pistol I know of is 18 rounds].

WHY??

Lots of reasons!

A) Limited Ammo (or "stock class") play gets back to the roots of playing paintball

- Limited Ammo allows you to use tactics, strategy and skill - not just raw firepower.

B) Realism

- If you're into "mil-sim" you recognize that not everybody on the battlefield is carrying the "heavy machine gun" that is today's paintballer's "basic" $150 gun.
- If you're into CQB or real-life situations [cops with pistols versus citizens with pistols/rifles], the only way to "create" that atmosphere is by not arming everyone with Uzis.
- If you're into re-enactment [civil war, westerns with six shooters], you realize you can't get there without having some kind of reasonable cap on what people are shooting.

C) Safety

- No more getting hosed by 10 guys running full auto at 15 balls per second each
- No more getting hosed by a guy from 10 feet away coming around your bunker
- Fewer "heated" arguments that result from getting hosed...
- Slower pace means less gung-ho running/blazing, where most injuries occur.
- Slower pace means more kids and "newbies" can experience paintball in a non-threatening way, and see if its something they'd like to do with hoppers later on.

D) Cost

- Instead of shooting two cases of paint and spending $200 to play "all out," you can play limited ammo for a fraction of the cost.  Most limited ammo players will probably use 1/4 to 1/2 a case of paint.

HOW??

It is easier than you think!

A)  Get a Pistol

- The simple way is to buy or use a pistol.  Boom, you're set.  No modification necessary.  $100-$200, or use an old pistol you have in the closet, and you're off to the races.

B) Modify your existing gun

- Most* guns can be modified to accept a ten-round tube.  You'll need:

1)  1/2" PVC-C "coupler" from Home Depot [~$0.29, in the plumbing section]
2)  A couple of ten round tubes [~$0.10 per tube, available at most any online store, field or pro shop]

[DIAGRAM COMING SOON]

The coupler slides into your gun's feed neck. The exterior dimension of a 1/2" coupler is the same as the interior dimension of your feed neck, so it should go right in. [Note: You may need to knick the coupler with a piece of sandpaper to loosen it up a bit and/or create a little friction between the pieces].  The interior dimension of the coupler just so happens to be the exterior dimension of a ten-round tube.  Viola!  You're set up!!

There is also a pre-made thing available that'll do the same thing, for 10 times the price [a whole whopping $5!].  [LINK COMING SOON]

* Tippmann A5s have a "cyclone hopper" that has a reservoir for X balls and a X-ball hopper that sits on top of the reservoir.  To make an A5 "legal" for limited ammo play, you have two options:

1)  Take a lid off of a $1 pod and pop it on top of the A5 reservoir
2)  Buy a $12 "tac cap loader" that'll do the same thing.

The tac cap loader (picture) (a link to buy one) comes standard with three "rings" that you can cut down to your preference:  30, 40 or 50 rounds.  As noted in the picture, you need to cut down the rings to at least the 30-round level, if not more.  That will be the absolute maximum # of balls you can have in/on your gun at any one time.

WHO??

Anybody!  Everybody!!

Expect lower-than-normal turnouts to these events, at first, until everybody gets wind of how great this style of play is.  After that, you may be seeing more people at limited ammo games and less at the "regular" games.  ;-)

WHEN??

We'll be holding limited ammo events TWO WEEKS after each "regular" game in the 2007 season.  For a schedule of games, click here.

Limited Ammo games will be ran exactly like the "regular" games [same theme, same props, same missions, same everything... except for paint capacity]

DISCOUNTS!!

Season Passes are available to cut your per-game cost.
- Buying a four game pass allows you to play for $X per game.
- Buying a spring or fall season pass allows you to play for $X per game

Referee a "regular" game or a "limited ammo" game for us, and we'll repay you with FREE entry, FREE air and a FREE case of paint.
