It was a great game. I am at work now, but I'll post a full review along with the names of the awards and the current "strange thing at Mt. Doom" that happened over the weekend.

We had a game this weekend?

Kidding.

Well it was different smile.gif

I was the general for the SG-1 side, and honestly I had more fun then I thought I would. The start was real slow for us, as we missed the sound of the horn completely. Once the second mission was passed out we seemed to get back on our feet, and started getting a foot hold back on doom. Since doom is my home field, and one that I work at/on about ever weekend, I just know where stuff is. I should have took the time Friday night/early Saturday to show my side around a bit more to help get there bearings. The one mission that really stood out to me was the one with the love bugs. There were two little stuffed something’s we had to get. If you only brought back one, it will kill every one without the mate. Someone brought the first one back, which killed us, but stayed at the base. Once we respawned we got the other. Sadly I sat there and watched Jack pick them out, and look right at me and say "Your love bugs are leavening" at which I said "Oh ok” after he was out of sight I know I just messed up, so I called on the radio that we needed to bring them back, by this time they were surrounded by mines. Our engineer disarmed them, and we got the bugs back, and 6 more mines to surround our startgate with. As for Sunday I think I was the only person on the field at game start. Thanks to everyone that came out to play, I would like to thank Rusty for being My XO, the drinks, and getting the MVP award. I would like to thank Hiredguns (Team award) and the 2 kids for young guns (Jack stole my paper with names on it sad.gif )
I can't remember all the people or teams on my side, but a big thank you. Thanks to redbull as well. Jack, Hoop, and of course the great Doug Arnold.

Hope to see everyone back at the next one.

(EDIT) wow took me 14 mins to write this, and jacks post beat mine sad.gif

We had a great game this weekend!

The weather was simply amazing. A little cool at night, but nothing a large campfire couldn't take care of. The numbers were small enough that the Ori (Green) and the Goa'uld (Red) teamed up to play against the SG-1 (blue) team. Brian Pirkle lead the SG-1 while Roger Speake commanded the ORi/Goa'uld coalition. Both teams fought hard and made some daring flank attacks against each other, but everyone played fair. Teams were raiding each others base so frequently that when I went by the Ori base on Sunday I actually saw Roger pulling defense of his Star Gate. I've never seen a paintball player look so uncomfortable haha.gif It took a little while for some of the newer players to the field to learn that there was plenty of brush between you and the other player. Even though you could see the other guy just fine your paint wasn't quite getting there. The field is getting better with every game and new bunkers seem to be appearing out of thin air on a daily basis. I think some of the bunkers I saw on Sunday were not there Saturday morning unsure.gif

The trolley system worked perfectly and transported players back and forth the entire game. I think I counted four or five different drivers throughout the game. I don't want to miss anyone, so all of you know that you have my, and all of the tired players, thanks. Monster brought his tank, providing lots of interesting situations with players scurrying for deeper cover in the brush as he drove up and down the main road looking for targets.

I think the record travel time for this game was seven hours, won by the Hired Guns from Louisiana. Even though they came dragging off the field on Saturday and I did not see any of them on Saturday night everyone I talked to said they loved the field. We may have some regulars at Mt. Doom from LA before too long.

Brian's XO, Rusty, and his team came from T.G.I. Friday's. They work at the Hwy 280 location in Birmingham. Their manager sent us over $1,000 dollars worth of free appetizers and not one but THREE gigantic coolers full of energy dinks, gatoraide, and bottle water. We didn't have any problems with players staying hydrated this game! Red Bull sent their people out both Saturday and Sunday. The girls came out on the field handing out drinks and one of their guys, Will Smith, actually got out and played some. This guy took of into the final battle and really started getting into the thick of the fight. So combining T.G.I Friday's and Red Bull we had energetic and well hydrated players the entire game. Everyone please take a moment to send an email or call the 1-800 comment line and thank these two companies for supporting the game. It's companies like these that we want to keep coming out and being part of our games.

The Ori awards were as follows
MVT - Alabama Militia
MVP - Elton Harris
Young Gun - Oliver Maxwell

The SG-1 awards were as follows
MVT - Hired Gunz
MVP - Rusty Whaley
Young Gun - Katie Burges
Note: Either I can not read or Brian can not write. Would the winner of the Young Gun award for the SG-1 team please contact me so I can correct the above information. Thanks.

We had lots of paint, pod packs, and a couple of markers for the prize give away. Our grenade throw that everyone always gets into took a unique twist. We had a player celebrating his 16th birthday with us. To celebrate we had him stand with Roger and Brian and let the youngest player and the player who traveled the longest each toss a grenade at the trio. Imagine everyone's surprise when the paint grenades I handed them went off in the hands of the throwers instead of their targets. Would I sabotage grenades for my own enjoyment? Surely not me innocent.gif

We had plenty of fresh paint that seemed to work well in everyone's guns. Excellent and exact air fills kept everyone's guns full and working in perfect condition. The staff at Mt. Doom seemed to always be around when needed. Although I still am trying to figure out how I can look in one direction and see Mike working on a gun, then look the other way and seem him filling an air tank. How can one man move that fast??

I want to also thank Doug Arnold, his wife, their grand children, their dogs, and all of the Mt. Doom staff for working to give everyone a fun and safe environment to play in. We couldn't do it without their dedication to scenario paintball. We did not have any Chupacabra sightings this game, but we will continue to monitor our motion detectors for any signs. I'll post some pictures up sometime tomorrow.

Jack

Sorry about that. I failed to write down all of the awards and simply took Brian and Roger's notes. I guess I read the notes wrong. I'll contact Brian and get the information corrected ASAP.

Had a great time and loved the way the field made players more sneaky. And as far as me pulling guard duty yes it was uncomfortable but I didnt want to hold people back they came to play not sit and wait for it to come to them. Trust me I got into plenty of gun fights and I didnt have to move from my Stargate but I had more with me you just didnt see them.

Ghost Squad had a great time @ Mt. Doom. It was a new field for us, and took a little getting used to the "Close Quarter combat". All in All though it was fun. hats off to Jack, Hoop and his team for putting together fun events in a very economical fashion for us players. Thanks guys.
Hey when are you going to post the pic of Will Smith about to get the ever living tar shot out of him by Me and Dethspec?
you should of let us put a couple in him so he could go home with some "War" injuries.
Well anyway thanks for the game and all the work you put into it. If you ever need a couple of Generals for a game who would be willing to aloow you to use all of your crazy innovative ideas like the assasin and hitman roles lets us know. we would have a lot of fun helpin out.
Man i need to update my profile

see you in Commerce

Post Edited.

Tai,
Whenever you guys are ready to general just say the word. It would be great to have some more generals like Brian and Roger who like getting into the roles. You guys up for leading one of the sides during the next game at Mt. Doom??

Howdy players, visitors and friends who attended this Stargate game... wasn't the weather just awesome! I cannot tell you how simply astonished I was when everyone left and the field was again spotless! Not one can, wrapper or even a tiny piece of paper found on the camping area. All campsites were neat as could possibly be and the garbage cans nicely lined up for pickup by the tractor/trailer. The staff and I had these put in the dumpster in 10 minutes flat. As players leave the game when it's over and head out on the highway to their homes the field owner is still back at that field putting props away, rolling out fresh N2 and CO2 tanks, taking down strings and looking about the field for lost stuff and props. And as I always like to relate to you guys... as that old sun is setting I like to sip a Jack-N-Coke out by the firepit and watch the last rays of sunlight going down. This was one good event. The Cajun guys gave me a bowl of something that was just plain delicious! I don't know what was in it (sometimes it's best not to ask) but boy was it good! I hope they will return soon with more of that good cooking on board. Jack and Hoop pulled off yet another excellent game. The Stargates stayed busy all day! Man I wish I had one of those that worked from the bottom of the mountain up to the top! Just walk in down here... walk out up there! Anyway, thanks for everyone who came to this event. I hope you all had a great time and will come back. Lots of new stuff will be added to the field this summer and in even the next few weeks so the field will constantly be improving. Not but a few weeks till 24HG returns for another game here so just keep you stuff packed up and ready for a return. Later dudes... Doug / aka fieldowner
