Planet TJ175-A is unusual. It has a rather long orbit, which means it has a very long "cold" season and a very short "warm" season. During the warm season plants grow rapidly and the planet is full of life. During the cold season everything freezes and the planet is virtually covered with feet of ice. But planet TJ175-A has one thing everyone wants, resources. During the warm season plants of all kinds can be harvested for medical and other purposes, and minerals can be mined from the planet almost all the time. A few months before the warm cycle began, earth sent a research team to the planet. They began building structures for further colonization efforts. Things like a nuclear reactor for power and a make-shift landing pad were put in place almost immediately. The research team also brought geological testing equipment and surveying equipment with them. The team worked steadily and seemed to be making good progress, but they were not the only ones on the planet. Hundreds of years ago, for some unknown reason, a small colony of aliens showed up on the planet. It was only a queen and a few worker aliens, but it was enough to begin building a larger hive. When the cold cycle of the planet begins the aliens try to find the warmest place they can and live out the cold as best they can. Many die, but there are always enough to build back the numbers during the warm cycle. When the research team built the nuclear reactor on the planet it only gave the aliens something warm to stay next to during the cold cycle. If something is not done, this planet will be lost to aliens forever. It was the aliens that attracted the predators. They initially came in a large colony ship and landed small groups of warriors on the planet during the warm cycle. But one warm cycle there was a mechanical malfunction that forced the colony ship to make a crash landing on the planet. The elders immediately began constructing underground shelters for the planet's cold cycles. The elders, knowing that they would never leave this planet, set many of the ships surviving automatic systems to only run during the warm cycle. The elders trained their young for many years, but they have all died now. Many of the predators on the planet are untested in battle but are eager to prove themselves. With the older warriors guiding the younger ones, the predators are sure to collect many skulls during this planets warm cycle.
