| Just think...
Yesterday, you were an up-and-coming eagle scout and high school
football player, all of 16 years old. You were just a kid,
a kid that was not sure of the world around you, and only
minimally "trained" to handle what has become a complete 180
degree turn in your life; a life without your parents to help
and to guide you, without the safety and security of your home,
and with only minimal supplies and a small gang of close friends
to keep each you alive.
It is all still a blur... like a horrible nightmare that you
can't wake up from... but it is as real as it gets. You
know deep down that your family and friends are probably all
dead. You can see with your own eyes that your small
Midwest hometown has been taken over by an ever-growing force of
a foreign military.
All you know is to stay small; to hide out in the woods, and
to just try to survive it all. Everybody is scared, but
you can't let that get to you - or to them. Without your
friends, you are helpless. Without you, they are helpless.
But together, if you can keep the fear way down low, you might
be able to keep it together and eventually get out of this in
one piece. Your group is already adept at a lot of things
from playing football together, like basic offensive and
defensive formations, timing plays based on different sequences
of events, and "reading" what your opponent is doing. Your
group also has a formidable knowledge of wilderness training and
survival, first aid, communication, and being an active
participant AND leader in groups as part of your Eagle Scout
training.
But, you'll need to summon up a whole lot more than how to
tie a clove hitch knot for this one. From what you've read
in history books, heard on the evening news, and seen yourself
as you were high-tailing it out of town after the soldiers
parachuted in - they have got a well equipped regiment of
soldiers with RPGs, grenades, and automatic rifles. That's
not even counting their TANKS or their HELICOPTERS! You
know that your best bet is to cause small disruptions, rather
than taking them head-on. Cause breaks in their supply
line, make them uncertain of when and where you will strike...
and slowly try to eat away at their resolve and their morale.
Maybe, just maybe, you have a chance after all...
Back in the town of Calumet...
There is a fevered rush to bring in supplies and men as
quickly as possible. Your command entails converting the
town into the invasion's main staging area. This location,
in the Midwest of America, has been determined to be the ideal
location for storing munitions and weaponry for the war.
The towns extensive network of rail lines and wide rivers allows
your army to be able to quickly move troops and supplies to any
arena of the war, and it is vital that this area be utilized for
our advantage.
Your main objectives are to invade and secure the town,
stockpile munitions and various weaponry, and to train newly
arriving troops for battle. The only way this war will be
won is if you can do these things, and not mess anything up.
The young men making up your military force are already
frazzled, having stepped foot on American soil and having to go
up against the World's greatest superpower. Your men have
modest bravado, having taken over Poland and several Western
European countries after Russia's worst wheat famine in years,
but these are only hollow victories compared to the military
might of the US.
As commander, you must (above all else) maintain the morale
of the troops or the whole supply chain will disintegrate.
If you fail, you face almost certain death from America's
military. If you surrender, you face an agonizing life
sentence of hard labor in Siberia from your commanding officers.
Your only hope is to keep the supplies moving and to keep your
town from falling. Far away, in surrounding towns, your
army has set up impressive perimeter defenses to help keep the
Americans off of your heels. You are well fortified by
Surface to Air Missile locations and a large entrenched army of
soldiers and tanks. All you need to do is worry about
taking over and maintaining the town for your military's
success. Securing the town should be easy enough - once
you gather up intelligence on who is likely to be armed and
imprison or kill them all... Victory is almost certain for
Mother Russia...
